so yesterday there was a pod of dolphins or porpoise, not sure which, swimming about 15 feet off shore in the shore break at crystal cove. thank God there weren’t any cars speeding down coast highway at that time because i pretty much came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. there were DOLPHINS swimming 15 FEET OFF SHORE!! what?! where do i live??!! this is paradise. actually, you can see dolphins many days. jeff has often been surprised by the dolphin that swims up while he’s sitting on his surfboard to let him know that the fish is going to catch the next wave, thank you very much. one day, 4 or 5 of them decided to put on a show right in the middle of main beach doing flips and jumps for about 20 minutes. you can’t really just walk by and continue on with your day when you see that. then there are the days that are especially good for tide pooling and my son gets to see two octopus fighting over the small fish that will be dinner. or it’s my friends going lobster diving at night or the guy that caught a huge bass off right off the beach. it’s nuts. everything is just so glorious here with the ocean. it’s a pretty amazing place to live. i’m reminded of that everyday. it’s either sunny and warm, full of flowers and beach, or it’s rainy (finally) followed by immediate new green growth all over the canyon hills the next day. i just love it. i feel so blessed.
